Kristiana, our future and our pride

A few weeks ago I was nominated for the Pride Of Australia Medal sponsored by the Courier Mail and Sunday Mail (the largest weekday and weekend papers in Queensland). Well the awards were on Friday and I won the category of Young Aussie for the Pride of Australia Medal.

Apparently there were over 800 nominations for the awards and only 10 of them were recognised with the Pride of Australia Medal. Now although the awards were fantastic, the most memorable part of these awards, I'm sure, is going to be the fact that on page 3 of Saturday's paper there was a half page picture of my head underneath the caption "Kristiana our future and our pride" followed on page 48 with an article about why I had won.

I have never felt so famous (and so undeserving of all the attention!!)!

This weekend has been hilarious!

I have had random people in the street ask me for photos with them and for me to autograph their papers, various parts of their body and clothes.* I have also had ladies handing me their babies to be kissed and have had presents and flowers delivered to my door.*

It has been madness I tell you. But really nice at the same time.

So congratulations to all the winners, nominees and people out there doing what they know is right, and making a positive difference in this wonderful world.

Kristiana

*I may have slightly exaggerated the entire sentence.... But we all know that it should have happened...
