Kristina's SURPRISE 25th!!

Thank you to everyone to contributed to making today such a special event for Kristina!

Despite Kristina never picking up my phone when it rings (except for the one time the venue was confirming the booking), discovering streamers, balloons and happy birthday decorations in my bag (on the one time she has ever gone into my bag) and various other minor mishaps for which I thought I had done really bad excuse-making sessions on, her SURPRISE birthday party went off without a hitch!

She really was genuinely surprised that we had managed to pull the entire event off without her knowing and was absolutely thankful to us all!

So thank you VERY much for your contributions! Especially to Sandra and Charlie for putting up all the decorations in my absence and to Charlie again for concocting a gluten-free chocolate birthday cake!!!

Fete de la Musique

I volunteered today in Fete de la Musique, the music festival happening simultaneously in about 200 cities around the world. The day featured hundreds of performers around 180 venues in Brisbane alone and was run entirely on volunteers and free performance.

I was responsible for running two of eight stages in the Queen Street Mall. The day went off relatively flawless, especially for a first time event!

It was wonderful to be a part of this festival because it really captured the nature of spontaneity and performance. Brisbane City Council, you are starting to redeem yourself...
