Wind, water, heart....

Although Hawai'i basically sits under the Tropic of Cancer it never seems to get too hot - thanks to 'The Trade Winds'. The trade winds are a constant soothing breeze that cool your cheeks and keep you feeling fresh even on the hottest days.

I was told shortly after coming here that the winds will be one of the things I'll miss most when I leave, so I have been careful to give mahalos to the island when I remember. (Apparently, in all the movies filmed on location, like all the Elvis Hawai'i movies, you can see the trade winds make their appearance often; that misplaced hair and pulling of the grass skirts are the give-aways...)

Something I have been missing while here however, have been the rain showers. I was definitely expecting more of a tropical kind of climate in Honolulu, and although I am told the North Shore is much more tropical, Honolulu is surprisingly dry.

Thankfully yesterday was an exception. As soon as class finished the rain started and they didn't stop for several hours. Although it was not fat rain, it was constant and after three hours of wondering around in it my two friends and I were sufficiently saturated. It was spectacularly wonderful!

And because the weather is always so delicious, not once were we cold and by this afternoon even my sneakers were dry!

Although I didn't catch sight of any 'moon-bows' (possibly because it is only a half moon) is was still a wonderful night and one that I am very, very grateful for.

If there's any more rain left up there, I welcome it openly!!!

Mahalo!!
