New Tattoo

It is official. My mother is the best.

Look I am sure that your mum is great but, there is only room for one "best". That's just how it is. Sorry.

My mum is the best because she is a friend as well as a parent. We laugh until we cry, we cry until we feel like laughing and we joke around with each other constantly. She pushes my buttons and I push hers because we understand how each other roll.

There are many, MANY reasons why my mum is the best and just one little example is how yesterday, even though she did not support me getting my next tattoo, my mum came along, because I had expressed to her how much it meant to me to have her there.

My new tattoo is about us. It is representative of me being on my path and going in my direction and how you and everyone else are on your own paths, in your own directions. It represents how directly or indirectly our paths intersect and how those moments of connection can impact our lives so significantly. My tat is a reminder to be there for those who are there for me, because without those people I would come undone. My tat is an ode to you amazing people who enrich my life, motivate me and inspire me. You are my religion, my cross, my right-hand people.

And to you all I dedicate my tat. Especially my mum.

Wild Gooses...

Last night my love sent me on a wild goose chase. It was hysterical.

Knowing that I am stubborn, a lateral thinker and always wanting my own way if I can get it, my love thought it would be incredibly entertaining to lay clues all around Brisbane and watch me run impulsively from one destination to the next...

It was one of the greatest things anyone has done for me! It took lots of time, sweat and frustration but in the end I was delighted to come across my soy ice-cream reward and a giant smile.

But seriously, if you see me running around Brisbane, can you please give me a ride people?!

Gah-ha-ha!

"You're friend.... Is she dangerous?"

I have a mad friend we fondly refer to as "crazy Sandra". The other day I went to Surfers Paradise on a Sandy adventure. This was the day after we were hanging out in the valley wearing newspaper.

Why were we wearing newspapers? Sandra had the idea to do it so we put our creative energies into five minutes worth of effort and an outfit. I thought it all went down rather well... Randoms in the valley were commenting, "And they say women are hard to READ..." and "I'm TORN UP over you..." and "Hey, haven't I seen you IN the paper?..." etc. It was grand.

Moving on. So the Sandy adventure saw us getting free pole-dancing lessons which were a huge about of fun (and pain), loosing jewelry, eating copious amounts of junk and flirting with the sun. Most memorable moment of the night however, would be when I ran into someone I knew at a club. I went to introduce Sandra to my friend but before I could say his name she headbutted his chest in a playful way. Very Sandra. My friend, mildly confused said "Nice to meet you too... can't say I have ever been head butted before..." and smiles were exchanged.

Sandra brings me joy. She may leave others questioning but I love her!

Favourite quote about Sandra that was said shortly after someone else met her last week:
"You're friend.... she's crazy.... is she dangerous?"....

The answer is no.

Blues and Roots

My friend Ngaire came up North for the Blues and Roots festival with Blue King Brown this last weekend and we decided to go down to Byron and catch up with her. Ngaire is an interesting character, a tiny framed, calm, flighty package with a remarkable history and absolutely incredible voice.

We only decided to head down to Byron late Sunday and once we got there, we opted to play spies in the parking lot for a while as it rained. We eventually met up with Ngaire and the Blue King Brown crew after their gig while they were eating dinner backstage with Kasey Chambers and some other high profile bands.

As much as I love Ngaire, I must admit the highlight of Blues and Roots for me was seeing the John Butler Trio perform again. The first time I saw those guys was in 2001 when they were an unknown, mostly percussion performance troupe. Since then they have independently released their albums through their own independent record label and had many top indy hits. The reason why JBT were so great to watch this time round was because the boys have not forgotten their roots, they still have a passion for the preservation of the earth and they push their captivating musical talents to unite their audiences for a more loving and peaceful world.

It was a beautiful thing.

Many thanks to Ngaire for getting us in and it was awesome to be able to see you again before we head overseas. Until our paths cross again superstar best of luck and love!

Job Rejected

I have decided to reject the job offer I got for Dubai, it just seems like the people who offered me the job have no set job description or organisation in place. Besides, I have been doing a lot of research since my job offer and learnt that:
a) There are a ridiculous number of jobs for people like me in Dubai.
b) The jobs there pay very well (and it is not difficult to find a job that pays better than the first job offer I got).
c) I already have friends stationed in Dubai, Australian and Emirate citizens.
d) It is easier to get a job once in the country.

So, I have booked in some flights and have secured a partner in crime, it is official, I am moving to the United Arab Emirates and leaving Australia May 16th indefinately.

EXCITEMENT!

April 1

Although today was the day to pull pranks on people, it was last night I had my fun...

Last night was a pity party for a friend who had been stood up. Naturally, the night ended at the Down Under Bar - the tackiest, sleeziest bar in Brisbane (a guarantee for fun times. Seriously). I may or may not have had more than one drink (which may or may not mean that I was mildly under the influence) by the time we left the bar. Either way, upon exiting the bar I came across a slurring-drunk young man trying to alert a passed-out-on-the-bench-drunk young man that his phone was ringing and that perhaps he should answer it. The guy who had the ringing phone was out for the count so I volunteered myself to answer his phone...

"Hello, Kristiana speaking..... Who are YOU?!.... His WIFE?!? He has a WIFE?!? I am SO sorry, I didn't know!!... No! You know what?! You are worth more than this guy!.... You are! You need to kick his sorry ass to the curb!!.... Do you have a pre-nup??... Well then leave this looser and take 80% with you!!... You can do so much better! I am so sorry.... No, you have a good night..."

By this time the slurry-drunk was desperately trying to wake the passed-out-on-the-bench-drunk man....

Slurry-drunk: Mate!! Mate!! Wake up!!! Mate!! Your wife's on the phone!!!
Passed-out-on-the-bench-drunk: .....Whaaat?....
Slurry-drunk: Mate!! It's your wife!! Call your wife back!! You're getting a divorse mate!!
Passed-out-on-the-bench-drunk: ....What??...

At which point I handed the passed-out-on-the-bench-drunk back his phone and blew him a kiss. He smiled.

The slurry-drunk was beside himself and was stumped for what to say to me. Eventually he managed "You...... you're trouble..... YOU'RE TROUBLE!!" To which I responded, "Yeah? Well let this be a lesson to you! Don't you ever get so drunk that some trouble-maker like me will come along and mess-up your world!"

People! My loyal online-diary following! Surely you all know me well enough by now to know that I would never have done such a thing to any poor woman or passed-out-on-the-bench-drunk young man! So, I will let you know that there was no one on the other end of the line when I answered the phone. The man had received a txt message that sounded like an incoming call and when I opened his phone, I was the only person particpating in my conversation.

Me? Trouble?? Never!
;)
