What an honour and a privilage!

I have discovered the most delightful and supportive group of people to befriend!

Every fortnight the Campbell River Pride group meet, 'check in' and talk about all sorts of random stuff. Tonight was no exception. This group ties for first place as the most genuine, interesting, fun and caring group of people I have ever met.

When I got home tonight I burst out crying, overwhelmed by the laughter, strength and sharing offered tonight. I heard people's coming out stories (which for some had started this week and for others hadn't occurred because it was just never an issue), love stories (including 'how we met' stories as well as 'what my current partner/s like'), what it is like to be a woman versus a man, what it is like to be a child facing queer issues in a small town in the 1970's compared to today, learning to learn about self, learning how to be self protective without being judgemental of the world, what it is like to be a parent, spouse or child of someone who identifies as queer and more. Honestly, it was the most fun I have had since being in Canada and I am so happy and thankful to be connected to this group of truly amazing individuals.

I look forward to the next meeting two weeks from now. THANK YOU to everyone who made tonight so special for this human so far away from home.
