San Sebastian

San Sebastian is the stuff joy is made from!

I arrived and followed some nice Americans to their hostel. It was such a nice hostel and although full, I convinced the owner to let me sleep in the social room. It also happens to be the owner´s birthday and everyone here is so lovely, a massive dinner was made, a birthday cake shared, streamers posted and balloons blown. I have had so much sangrea (two glasses - a LOT for me!) and am feeling like this is the best city ever!

Much love to everyone!!!

Wee, Paris

Oh . My. God.

Think the type of European wealth you see in those documentaries of 'the Elite'. Double it. Welcome to my temporary Parisian world. Seriously.

I have never heard so much name-dropping in my entire life, not because these people need to impress anyone, just because these are their friends...

It is nice to be a visitor but at the same time, those that know me will know I love taking photos but in this world the total (and mostly necessary) lack of trust prevents it.

I am sorry for the lack of contact but the French (seemingly random collection of keys on the keyboard) is confusing the hell out of me and the cheapest internet access point I could find is for $AUD12 an hour. Ouch, because I am definately not one of the super rich...

But Paris seems like a crazy and wonderful place. I have done some tourist things (duh) and learnt a lot about community projects in Israel that this family are heavily involved in. I am really enjoying myself and will certainly be back.

Next stop, Tuesday, San Sebastian in Spain.

Lots of love.

Dar Amsterdam

Aghh! It is COLD here. Like really. My fingers feel numb which makes it hard to type.

Bedtime last night was spent thinking warm thoughts, curling up in a ball, trying to use my own breath as a makeshift heating system and then finally getting so bored with thinking about the cold that I fell asleep. It was supposed to rain all day today but instead it was a clear sky day of beauty! I went with Karin (brunette from the previous blog's picture) to a little market after we ate a delicious vegetarian lunch and went to check out a tattoo parlour and sex shop - this is Amsterdam after all. However, we ran out of time though before she had to start work.
Today I was supposed to go to Belgium, to Brussels. I was supposed to go today and do what all good visitors in Belgium do, drink litres and litres of Belgium beer and guzzle packets and packets of Belgium chocolate, but seeing as I don't usually drink and I don't have dairy, I figured I wasn't missing out on too much... I have also delayed going to Paris so I can stay here for a little bit. In Paris I am staying with my mum's cousin Sophie. She is a former model and married to the guy who started Perrier water. She is kindly letting me stay in one of her flats in Paris. Should be lovely.

If anyone would like to join me, just let me know, I am going to be there from this Wednesday until Monday. It seems to be such a shame to be alone in paris... Consider it....
;)

Peace and love!

Why Hello!

Say hello to the new Student Services Specialist at Santiago Canyon College!!!

Woot woot!

That's right! I start January 2nd!!

My job will see me recruiting, training and mentoring young people at the college in working with foster kids and kids from diverse backgrounds so they will make it to college and contribute effectively to the community!

I AM STOKED!!!

So, I still go to Western Europe tomorrow. I still go to Africa after that. I still fly back to Aus December 23 but I will probably be back little under a week before coming back to work in the city of Orange in Orange County California.

Sending you all much love!

Water Restrictions

Wow, the drought down under is so bad right now.

I just learnt about the new water restrictions in Brisbane, my home city. You can no longer use garden hoses in Brisbane and they must be stored in your house, not sitting out in your yard.

Brisbane residents can only water their yards with water from buckets and the buckets can only be used during 4-8pm on designated days (3 days a week, days vary depending on where you live).

To correspond to the new water restrictions, water police are enforcing the new rules. If you are caught using water when you shouldn't or if you are found to have a hose in your yard then you will receive a fine.

This is not a joke, though it should be. It is so scary to think that this is how crucial the drought is in Australia right now...

Meanwhile, my friends here often clean their cars at least once a week and most are unaware of the impending water crisis abroad or even further north (where the Southern California water comes from...).

Concerning...

Job Update

I am currently still unemployed.

I am still looking.

For those lovely friends of mine not in the United States, can you please stop telling me that this is all very fateful and that I should come back to Aus, I want to be in the United States right now! I love you all very, VERY much but for at least the next few years, I want to be based here so can you please pour your energy into manifesting a wonderful job opportunity for me so I don't have to accept a job I don't really want to do?

LOVE YOU ALL MUCHLY!

MWAH!

Halloween

Wow. Halloween is SUCH a big deal!

I am under the distinct impression that it is far bigger than Christmas because you tend to reuse Christmas decorations but each year you rebuy Halloween decorations and you never wear the same Halloween costume.

Also, Halloween is celebrated over 5 days. That is five days of different costumes at random and organised parties and clubs. 5 days in sleep deprived, sugar overloaded kookiness!

It was a lot of fun!

Heart you all!
